After birth, so much is checked. The baby’s weight.
The feeding.
The healing body.
The appointments.
The routines.
But what about the mother’s wellbeing?
Maternal mental health should not depend on whether someone happens to notice, whether a mother has the words to explain what she is experiencing, or whether she reaches breaking point before support becomes available.
Through Mind the Mum, we are working to place parental mental health and care at the forefront, so that emotional wellbeing is recognised as part of care, not something left outside it.
Today, on World Maternal Mental Health Day, let us remember:
Mental health needs a place in every Respectful Maternity Care journey.
